2020 Applications Open

Since it’s launch in 2013, Global Relay’s Bridge the Gap Fund has played an integral role in the development Canadian road cyclists by assisting over a twenty riders in obtaining a professional trade team contracts. The board members of the fund are constantly on the look out for up and coming talent and have become aware that while Canada produces some exceptional young riders, there is no systematic development pathway of getting large numbers of kids involved in the sport of cycling. In response, the Fund has extended it’s support of the BTG club grant program to seed and develop youth cycling clubs in Canada.

The BTG Youth Club seeding program is for Canadian youth endurance cycling programs dedicated to growing the sport of bike racing. Clubs applying to this program are intending to grow their programs into financially self-sustaining programs that follow the principles of Cycling Canada’s Long-term Athlete Development plan, develop endurance discipline bike racers and utilize their surrounding community for support of amateur sport. Coaching grants are intended to “Bridge the Gap” between the time a program commits to a sustainable model and the time they achieve their model (two year limit). Funds supplied through this grant are specifically targeted at hiring coaches.

Typical grants range in size from $5000-$8000.

Final Deadline for 2020 intake is Nov 15th, 2017 at 5:00pm PST.
